🕒 Technically all evening, but you should also be able to get some climbing in

Your role is to preagreed training and skill sharing with Clan Members to help them learn skills they didn't already have, and consolidate those they do have.

What do you do:

  • Don't get paired, climb with your usual friends or go bouldering
  • You'll be focused on some kind of pre-agreed training. Probably helping people learn to lead and lead belay, but potentially other skills.
  • Let the Pairing person who you are, and that you're looking for 1-2 people to focus on this training with. They should have a tab with a shortlist of people.
  • When these people arrive, Pairing should pair you with them, and send you off to do some learning.
  • Spend time introducing or consolidating/refreshing

There's no more of a set goal than this - help show - and help keep the Clan as safe and knowledgable as possible.

Want some really good advice to help you?

It may be worth having a read through relevant VDiff Climbing notes:

Lead Belaying

Lead Climbing

Some advice that may or may not help:

  • Lead Belaying is a skill which opens most doors for the learner (compared to Lead Climbing)
  • Lead Climbing is often best done on the grade 4 training routes
  • Ghost-roping someone's first lead route with a top-rope may be a confidence inspiring, safety-first thing
