🕒 Takes 10-20 mins on Monday and Tuesday evening for assignments. On Wednesday evening you will oversee the whole event - but you'll be able to climb too!
Your role is to supervise the other roles, nudge volunteers to start (or finish) their tasks, and provide guidance and direction to anyone who needs it.
What to do:
Before the event:
The main things you’ll need to do on Wednesday are:
- Arrive around at the centre at about 6pm
- Open the clan locker and give out the walkie talkies and wristbands to the people on check-in, pairing and welcome liaison. You should also make sure they have access to the attendee list and know what they’re doing
- Make sure people do their roles (particularly check-in and pairing)
- Make sure the person doing announcements knows what to announce
- Do a few walks around during check in to check stuff is occurring (particularly on extra-welcoming evenings)
- If anything is broken or anyone needs help, step in to help them
- Tell check in when to stop
- When pairing is finished, make sure the centre staff have the names of any non-belayers who filled out supervisor forms at pairing
At the end of the evening you’ll also need to:
- Make sure all the kit and the banner go back into the locker
- Mark any cancellations/no-shows on the spreadsheet, then mark all as attended
