The hut has toilets, showers, power, bunks, cooking facilities, fresh drinking water. It may not have signal at all on some networks. It may or may not have WiFi. There aren’t big shops nearby. We will have to bring everything with us.
We'll figure out all plans the night before in the hut.
Key:
normal text: things you definitely need
italic: optional things you might like to have
If you’re hoping to climb, you’ll need your own gear - there isn’t anywhere to hire it for. At a minimum - you’ll need:
Really helpful things to have, even if you’re not leading
If you have any of these things, bring them:
If you're a trad leader, you should know what to bring (everything!).
The weather and time of year is important to think about, but this is the British Isles, we have to plan for all weathers at all times of year.
There is often a walk to any climbing, maybe even a bit of a hike. It’s good to be equipped in case we’re outside longer than expected.
Almost all meals are included in the trip price, and will be tailored to your dietary requirements - specifically:
We already have your dietary requirements from the signup form, and everyone will be catered for. If the chefs on this trip have any questions or queries, they'll be in touch directly.
You are headed precisely to here, but read on for a second.
The last 300m to the hut is one car width, with zero passing places.
There are two shut gates (the first one is marked "private", the second appears to be padlocked.. but isn't).
Please close them after you, and behave pleasantly to anyone you meet.
The first gate
The farmer whose land you pass through is not friendly, and whilst should not trouble you, is unlikely to be helpful or friendly.
Outside the hut is plenty of parking, but please park efficiently, and be willing to be blocked in.
If you are the first one there, or likely to be - please message The Clan directly for info of how to get inside.
We're likely to be sharing the hut, so we'll need to stay in our allotted rooms. Put your stuff on any bed in those rooms to reserve it.
Got any questions? Suggestions? Not sure if something you have is suitable? Ask in the group chat and we’ll reply super quickly - always happy to clarify things.
