Purpose\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h1\u003e\n\u003cp style=\u0022text-align: center;\u0022\u003eWe\n do not want to make a big thing about this but we want to make it clear\n that we are a friendly and inclusive community, around a friendly and \ninclusive club. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\u0022text-align: center;\u0022\u003eWe want everyone to be happy, feel safe, feel welcome, and the entire world to be perfect. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\u0022text-align: center;\u0022\u003eIf\n we are honest, we are struggling at “the world being perfect” bit, but \nwith your help, we should be able to manage the rest of it. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch3 style=\u0022text-align: center;\u0022\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBelow is our code of conduct\u003c/strong\u003e:\u003c/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will have people involved in our community with a variety of gender identities and sexual orientations. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will have people involved of all ages and maturities. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will have people involved who have visible disabilities and invisible disabilities. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will have people involved of many shapes and sizes. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will have people involved whose skin colour is the same as yours and whose is different to yours. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSome community members will look and sound like you and some will look and sound very different to you. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere\n will be many beliefs in the community, be they religious beliefs, \npolitical beliefs, or other beliefs and they will at times differ vastly\n from your beliefs. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe will have boulderers, trad climbers, sport climbers, indoor climbers and outdoor climbers. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSome will have voted to leave the EU and some to stay.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf\n you have a problem with being in the same community with any of these \npeople then this group is probably not the community for you and you \nshould not get involved. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you can not treat everyone as an equal then the group is probably not the community for you and you should not get involved. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you can \u003cstrong\u003eagree to disagree,\u003c/strong\u003e\n be tolerant and respectful, and try not to upset others then you are a \ntremendous person, and we really want you to be a part of our community.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf\n your views and beliefs are different to other people’s then that is \nokay. Just do not allow them to upset or offend others. They will also \nbe trying not to upset or offend you.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you accidentally upset \nanother person in the Clan or make them feel uneasy, even if you did not\n intend to, and even if you do not understand how this could happen, \nthen you will want to work with the Clan to make things right and avoid \nany more upset. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe all make mistakes.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you purposely \nupset, hurt or otherwise abuse another person in the Clan, then sadly \nyou are not welcome and will be asked to leave.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Clan committee\n is not judge and jury and is not responsible for enforcing morality on \nthe world, but they are fixated on creating a friendly and welcoming \ncommunity where everyone feels safe. Please please please help us with \nthat.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e2. Climbing Clan Citizenship\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eA\n supplementary goal of this Code of Conduct is to increase citizenship \nwithin the climbing community by encouraging participants to recognise \nand strengthen the relationships between our actions and their effects \non our community.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eCommunities mirror the societies in which they \nexist and positive action is essential to counteract the many forms of \ninequality and abuses of power that exist in society.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you see \nsomeone who is making an extra effort to ensure our community is \nwelcoming, friendly, and encourages all participants to contribute to \nthe fullest extent, we want to know.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e3. Expected Behaviour\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe following behaviours are expected and requested of all community members:\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003eParticipate in an authentic and active way. In doing so, you contribute to the health and longevity of this community.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003ePlease be kind and courteous. There’s no need to be mean or rude.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eRemember and respect that people will have different opinions and ways to understand climbing.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eAssume that everyone acts with good intentions.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eAttempt collaboration before conflict.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eRefrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behaviour and speech.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eBe mindful of your surroundings and of your fellow community \nmembers. Alert community leaders if you notice a dangerous situation, \nsomeone in distress, or violations of this Code of Conduct, even if they\n seem inconsequential.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eRemember that climbing venues may be shared with members of the public; please be respectful to all users of these locations.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eWe expect that climbers will be receptive to constructive feedback about safety aspects of their climbing.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eThe Clan events, Facebook groups and communications should be only \nused to organise climbing, promote climbing between members and should \nnot be used to promote other groups, clubs, companies, specific \ninstruction providers or things that the Clan members are involved in \nthat aren’t linked to Climbing. Clan members are encouraged to make use \nof The Social Clan for these things.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003ePlease keep unstructured critique to a minimum, and follow feedback procedures and best practice when sharing critical feedback:\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003eeg. Complaints about a person are best made directly to a member of the committee. \u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eIf trying to improve someone’s skills, it can be helpful to ask if they know if there’s a better way of doing it. \u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eIf wanting to give feedback about a Clan procedure, the first point of contact should be a member of the Clan committee.\u003c/li\u003e\u003c/ul\u003e\u003c/li\u003e\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e4. Unacceptable Behaviour\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe following behaviours are considered harassment and are unacceptable within our community:\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003eViolence; threats of violence; or violent language directed against another person.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eSexist, racist, ageist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003ePosting or displaying sexually explicit or violent material.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003ePosting or threatening to post other people’s personally identifying information (\u0022doxing\u0022).\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003ePersonal insults, particularly those related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eInappropriate photography or recording.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eInappropriate physical contact. You should have someone’s consent before touching them.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eUnwelcome sexual attention. This includes sexualised comments or \njokes; inappropriate touching, groping, and unwelcome sexual advances.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eDeliberate intimidation, stalking or following (online or in person).\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eSustained disruption and/or repetitive last minute cancellations and not turning up at indoors and outdoors events.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eSpamming, trolling, flaming, baiting or other attention-stealing behaviour.\u003c/li\u003e\n\n\u003cli\u003eAdvocating, encouraging or inciting any of the above behaviours.\u003c/li\u003e\u003c/ul\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e6. Consequences of Unacceptable Behaviour\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUnacceptable\n behaviour from any community member, including Facebook group members \nand those with decision-making authority, will not be tolerated.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAnyone asked to stop unacceptable behaviour is expected to comply immediately.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf\n a community member engages in unacceptable behaviour, the community organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and \nincluding a temporary ban or permanent expulsion from the community \nwithout warning (and without refund in the case of a paid event). \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith\n Clan members and those who aren’t members of the Clan - if they have \nattended one or more Climbing Clan events in person, this will involve \nfollowing the club Disciplinary Procedure. \u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWith members of the \ncommunity who are not club members, club volunteers and committee \nmembers, may take action they see fit to protect the community. This \nwill be subject to appeal.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e7. Reporting Guidelines\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf\n you are subject to, or witness unacceptable behaviour, or have any \nother concerns, please notify the organiser of the event you are at, or \nthe club Secretary as soon as possible. Addressing Grievances\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf\n you feel you have been falsely or unfairly accused of violating this \nCode of Conduct, you should notify The Secretary with a concise \ndescription of your grievance. Your grievance will be handled in \naccordance with our existing Grievance Policy.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis procedure applies to all the Climbing Clan community, including Facebook groups and activity chats.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e9. Scope\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe\n expect all community participants (club members, paid or otherwise; Facebook group members; and other guests) to abide by this Code of \nConduct in all community venues – online and in-person – as well as in \nall one-on-one communications pertaining to community business.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis\n code of conduct and its related procedures also applies to unacceptable\n behaviour occurring outside the scope of community activities when such behaviour has the potential to adversely affect the safety and \nwell-being of community members.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e10.
